Results Round Up – Saturday 16th September 2017.

Not a great day for the OR’s results wise.

The 1st XI slipped to 1 – 0 home defeat against Hanworth Sports FC today. With 5 changes from last week owing to player availability, this was a good opportunity to use the wider squad. However, a strong and determined display from the Visitors saw them good value for their win after the game appeared to be heading for a goalless draw, before a late strike duly earned the visitors all three points.

The 2nd XI went down 2 – 1 at AFC Ewell Reserves. Ben Kennett scored the OR’s goal.

The 3rd XI went down 3 – 1 against Trinity AFC with Simon Liste notching the OR’s consolation.

Fortunately, Boo-Boo’s 4th XI saved the Ruts from suffering a clean sweep of defeats, as his team drew 3 – 3 with Dynamo Kingston. The Ruts goals came courtesy of a Dean Riordan brace and a strike from Danny Keavy.

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior Teams tomorrow..

Results Round Up – Saturday 9th September 2017

The 1st XI started the new campaign well, as they secured a convincing 5 – 0 win at Old Plymouthians FC today after a tight first half. Skipper Chris Beard gave the OR’s the interval lead with a low strike into the right hand corner after a corner wasn’t cleared.

Some quickfire goals early in the 2nd half earned the OR’s a more comfortable lead as Michael Beard bravely headed home a neat cross from Zak Graham. Zak then notched two quality strikes, the first from open play and then an exquisite curling free kick

The icing on the cake was for the talisman himself in player manager Nick Raggett as he released himself from the bench for the last 15 minutes or so and he headed home from an acute angle following a good run and cross from Billy Liffen.

The 2nd XI also commenced their campaign in emphatic fashion as they won 6 – 1 at Motspur Park FC. The Ruts goals came courtesy of a Ben Kennett brace and further strikes from Paul Gough, Steve Berry, Kyle Moore and Ollie Hicks.

The 4th XI beat the 3rd XI 7 – 2 in the Inter Club Friendly, with a trio of braces from Harry Reeder, Sam Colebrook, Aaron Betteridge and one from Danny Keavy. The 3rd XI scorers were Dima Silenko and Dan Martin.21463310_1816400778387694_4551912746657530020_n

Ashtead 2-2 Old Rutlishians
Scorers: Lee Poulter, Ian Lennard
9 September 2000 SSEC Intermediate Division One
The Old Ruts opened their first division campaign in the Surrey South Eastern Combination with a well-earned draw on Saturday, but will be annoyed with themselves after twice letting the lead slip.

Man-of-the-match Lee Poulter opened the scoring after 15mins, but poor marking soon allowed the home side to equalise. A flowing move culminated in Ian Lennard’s fine finish from a Jeremy Capper pass to put the Ruts back in front, but Ashtead drew level following a controversial incident just before half-time. A goalmouth scramble in the Ashtead box resulted in furious appeals for a penalty, but the referee waved play on and Ashtead raced upfield to make it 2-2.

The second-half was an even affair, with no further goals added thanks to some wasteful finishing and good goalkeeping by Ruts’ keeper David Williams, who made a string of impressive saves.

The Weekend Ahead – 9th/10th September 2017.

The 1st XI play their first League match of the campaign as they travel to Old Plymouthians FC for an early 2.00pm KO. Venue: Wallington Sports Ground, Mollison Drive, Wallington, SM6 9BY.

The 2nd XI also have a league match. They take on Motspur Park FC at Wimbledon Common Extensions, with a 2.00pm KO.

The 3rd and 4th XI’s will play an Inter Club Friendly at Common Extensions at 2.00pm.

The Vets kick off their campaign on Sunday as they travel to Molesey Vets. Kick Off is at 10.30am.

Best wishes to all of the teams this week.

Results Round Up – Saturday 2nd September 2017

Line Up 2nd Sept

The 1st XI narrowly and a tad fortuitously won 4 – 3 at Horsley FC today. Despite a very close first half the Ruts took their chances well and seized a 3 – 0 lead with goals in the 23, 26 and 40th minutes. Jimmy Graham scored the first following a fine solo run and finish and his wing play saw him notch a second, when his cross come shot was parried into the net by the hosts keeper. Zak Graham deftly headed home the Ruts 3rd before Horsley reduced the deficit to 3 – 1 on the cusp of half time. The Ruts line-up is above courtesy of Zak’s graphic.

The OR’s suffered with lack of substitutes in the heat of the second half, as it was predominantly Horsley pressure in the Ruts half, which enabled them to deservedly draw level, which was the minimum their pressure deserved. However, in a rare second half threat Duncan Fraser fired home a late winner for the OR’s. Thanks to Horsley for hosting us.

The 2nd XI secured a 4 – 1 win at Shaftesbury Town Reserves thanks to an Ollie Hicks brace and further goals from Ben Kennett & Kieron O’Driscoll.

The 3rd/4th Mixed XI wrapped up a decent day for the OR’s as they beat Old Boys Clapham Reserves 4 – 2 thanks to goals from Aaron Betteridge, Dean Riordan, Danny Keavy and Keegan Maguire.
