Results Round Up – Saturday 9th February 2019.

The 1st XI secured an incredibly hard fought 3 points in this top of the table clash against AMY FC earlier today, as the Visitors started the livelier, whilst it took the Ruts a while to get in to the game.

Michael Beard was then involved a trio of penalty incidents when firstly he conceded one, which the visitors duly scored. However, he was soon able to redeem himself when he earned and promptly struck home from the spot to level it for the OR’s, to make it 1 – 1 at the break.

The second period remained a tight affair with openings at both ends, although it was the Ruts who took the lead, when a deft Zak Graham free-kick was superbly headed home by the OR’s MOTM Kieran O’Driscoll.

AMY equalised as the game edged on and at this stage most people may have accepted a draw and a share of the spoils. .

However, the Ruts broke down the left wing with Zak Graham doing well to create space and he crossed for Jimmy Graham to neatly fire home whilst several defenders closed in on him,to make the final score 3 – 2 to the Ruts, which enabled the lads to leap-frog the visitors and to top the table for the first time in quite a few months.

No doubt this season will see plenty more interesting twists and turns and it is certainly heading for a tight finale with plenty of matches left to play.

The other club results today were not so good.

The 2nd XI suffered a 4 – 1 defeat at AFC Ewell Res FC, with the consolation goal being scored by Mason Foster.

The 3rd XI had a classic case of a very bad day at the office, as they were thumped out of sight at high flying Selhurst SA who swept to a 12 – 1 win. The Ruts consolation was scored by Kevin Foster.

Best wishes to the Ruts Junior Teams tomorrow.
