The 1st XI drew 1 – 1 at Chiswick FC in a match they needed a minimum of a point from to avoid the drop on their own terms, and not be dependent on other results going their way.
The Ruts took the lead following a long cross field ball from Paul Gough was played to the corner of the box/by-line, George Tidey then back heeled the ball to Sam Leatherby, who squared the ball to Kyle Moore to tap in.
The Ruts have been guilty of gifting away far too many penalties this Season and typically the same thing happened in the 88th minute today! Thus allowing the Hosts to level from the spot late on.
Goughie was the Ruts MOTM with a real Captain’s performance. Relentless running for the whole game breaking down play and distributing well.
The Ruts Walking Football Team secured a fantastic Tournament Win at Corinthian Casuals FC. The lads drew their first 2 games 0 – 0 and then won their final game 1 – 0 thanks to a decent Steve Dulley strike and a John Walker penalty save.
This placed the team in joint first place which meant a penalty shoot out had to ensue. The Ruts calmly notched 4 from 4 whilst the oppo were denied by a miss and that man Johnny Walker meaning the 5th penalty was not necessary. Paul Cook, Gary Forge, John Walker and Michael Shpaizer confidently netting for the OR’s.
In the Final versus Sutton United that man Steve Dulley struck again to secure a 1 – 0 victory. Well done to the Squad who all rose to the challenge on the day.
Best wishes to all of the Ruts teams competing tomorrow.
