The 1st XI made hard work of overcoming a decent Junction Elite FC at Poplar Road this afternoon. The final score was 4 – 3 to the OR’s. Our lads created plenty of first half chances, but only managed to capitalise on two.
Our thanks to Manager Mappy for the timings/details of the Ruts Goals.
1-0 on 16 mins a Kyle Moore drive out of defence saw him put a lovely through ball to Billy Liffen who rounded the Keeper to slot home.
1-1 on 23mins
2-1 on 30 mins – (Mappy and I missed this as we were calming down a hot-headed Will!) Details of the Goal = An Adam Randall header!
2-2 – 45 mins – Oppo equalise via a penalty. Do not talk to Dan Creasey about the white and blue lines on the pitch!
3-2 55 mins – a Billy Liffen cut back saw Toby Lempriere’s deft left foot finish put the OR’s back in front.
4-2 65 mins – a terrific team move and breakaway goal, saw a Liffen pass through to Lempriere and a swift decent finish from Adam Randall who chips the Keeper.
JEFC reduced the arrears on 67mins. However the OR’s held on for a deserved win.
Toby Lempriere edged Kyle Moore to the Ruts MOTM award. Both players put in phenomenal shifts for our cause.
The A Team Fixture away to Tooting Bec B FC was postponed owing to a tragic incident outside of the Venue, which lead to all matches at the Hub being postponed.
The B Team secured a fine 2 – 0 win against Sutton High ‘A’ FC. Alex Blenkinsop notched a brace, whilst the effervescent veteran Steve Berry was the Ruts MOTM.
Best wishes to the Ruts teams playing tomorrow, especially to the Sunday Lads who dabble in their first ever Surrey Cup outing.
