Results Round Up – Saturday 4th November 2017.

The 1st XI went goal crazy in the County Cup today, as they comprehensively overcame Worplesdon Phoenix FC 9 – 1 at Poplar Road. The Ruts came out of the blocks in an extremely lively fashion and they were a goal ahead in less than a minute, when Zak Graham deftly lobbed the keeper, following a Chris Beard interception which put him through on goal.

Then, on 6 minutes the Effervescent Paul ‘Whitto’ Whitthread fired home a Billy Liffen cross and Skipper Chris Beard then made it 3 – 0, with a header in the 24th minute.

Whitto then struck again for his brace in the 37th minute, after a good advantage from the Referee, after Zac Graham was fouled in the area.

Stand in Keeper Darren Honey went off injured midway through the half leaving Paul Tuckey to step up off the Bench to deputise further, and the Visitors managed to reduce the arrears with a consolation strike in the 43rd minute.

In the second half Zak Graham’s finishing totally killed the game off, as potent strikes in the 50th, 56th and 62nd minutes put the outcome well beyond any doubt.

Two further strikes effectively put the icing on the cake, as Chris Beard notched his second goal and brace in the 78th minute, before Zak struck a fitting rasper for his very impressive 5 goal haul from the game. Final Score 9 – 1.  Best wishes to our opponents (who stayed for a few beers) for the rest of their Season.

The 2nd XI also secured a convincing victory as the won 4 – 1 at Chipstead Athletic FC. The Ruts goals came via Paul Gough, Steve Berry, Gary Wilton and Jack McGoldrick.

The only downside of the OR’s day, was the hefty 6 – 1 defeat suffered by the 3rd XI against Worcester Park ‘A’ FC. Scott Stoney notched the Ruts goal early on.

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior Teams tomorrow.

Results Round Up – Saturday 28th October 2017.

The 1st XI secured a hard fought 3 points with a 3 – 2 win at Westminster Casuals FC earlier today, in a keenly contested match, which pitched the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the division against each other.

Availability issues throughout the ranks this week saw a number of changes throughout the teams. Although this was certainly a strong performance from the 1st XI today. A bright start saw the Ruts go ahead after just 3 minutes when a well worked team goal saw Billy Liffen convert Zak Graham’s pin point cross from close range.

The Ruts were denied what appeared to be a clear cut penalty for a blatant handball and soon after they were left to rue not being awarded with one, as the hosts swiftly levelled.

Pleasingly, immediately from the restart a delightful sweeping team move saw Captain Chris Beard restore the Ruts lead with a great strike.

Once again the hosts levelled, as an in-swinging corner evaded everybody to land in the OR’s net. Given the balance of first half play the Ruts entered the interval a tad puzzled as to how they were not ahead.

An equally big performance was required in the second half and Chris Beard epitomised the team’s work ethic, as once again Zak Graham provided a great pass in to Beard’s path for him to hit his brace and what proved to be the match winning goal for the team.

The 2nd XI secured a 3 – 2 win over Motspur Park thanks to a Diogo Cavalho brace and a strike from long serving veteran Simon Minihane.

The 3rd XI suffered the Ruts only defeat of the day as they went down 3 – 0 to Refresh FC.

Boo’s 4th XI secured their first win of the season as they graced Poplar Road against Sutton Celtic FC. The Ruts all important goals came from Myles Wiltshire and young Jake Searles. Great result after a tough season to date previously.

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior teams tomorrow.

Results Round Up – Saturday 14th October 2017.

The 1st XI secured a decent 4 – 1 win in a very competitive match at West Fulham FC earlier today.

The Ruts came out in strong fashion, ably boosted by the return of the influential Graham Rolfe, and on 6 minutes a Zak Graham corner was headed powerfully back across goal by Duncan Fraser and promptly slotted home by Jimmy Graham from close range, providing the Ruts with a terrific start to the match.

The OR’s were the stronger team for the first 30 minutes, although the hosts increased their presence for the remainder of the half and forced Seymour in to a close range parried save, before they levelled from the spot with the second to last kick off the half. (with the final kick being the restart from the centre circle).

No doubt buoyed by their leveller, West Fulham opened brightly in the early stages of the second period, before the Ruts stamped their mark on the game midway through the half with a well struck left footed shot from Rolfe to make it 2 – 1.

A defensive mix up enabled Jimmy Graham to make it 3 – 1 and then the game became totally wrapped up when good wing play by Billy Liffen lead to Jimmy crossing to Zak Graham who fired home with a diving header.

The 2nd XI drew 2 – 2 with Supercala FC at Poplar Road. The Ruts goals came from Jon Taylor and Gary Wilton.

The 3rd XI won 4 – 2 at New Life Res FC in the Cup. An impressive hatrick from Sam Maclean and a solitary strike from Darren Bloomfield doing the damage there.

The 4th XI’s tough start to the campaign continued, as they suffered a 3 – 0 home defeat to Thornton Heath FC.

Results Round Up – Saturday 7th October 2017.

A dire day Results wise for the Ruts today.

The 1st XI went out of the League Senior Cup in lacklustre fashion earlier, going down 3 – 1 at Forestdale. A fairly even first half saw the hosts go ahead in the 31st minute and then double their tally in the 2nd minute of injury time on the cusp of the interval.

The Ruts had plenty of chances during the match, although the chances all went awry. Midway through the period a soft 3rd was conceded. The Ruts pulled a late goal back from Zak Graham after he won and converted a penalty.

The 2nd XI also bowed out of a League Cup going down 2 – 1 at AFC Gatton. Paul Gough notched the Ruts Goal.

The 3rd XI also suffered a reverse, as they went down 3 1 against Warlingham. Mark Todd scored the OR’s goal.

Onwards and upwards for next week!

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior teams tomorrow.
