The Sunday XI came up trumps earlier today with a phenomenal battling display at Poplar Road as they Hosted Mas Vidas FC.
With our Co Managers David Cecil & Sean Thornton both injured, plus other absentees on the lengthy unavailable list, this was a case of ‘all hands to the pump.’
The Ruts fortunes were thwarted further 15 mins or so in, when Keeper Tom Kearley was dismissed for handling the ball outside of his area.
Despite the odds now being stacked against the Ruts, the lads took the lead courtesy of a terrifically powerful left footed volley courtesy of the influential Alfie Dulley, as he fired home from the edge of the area.
The Visitors levelled shortly before the interval, despite a heavily disputed infringement being waved away in the build up.
In the second half the battling Ruts stuck firmly to their task, and 2 very well taken strikes from the lively Billy Holder wrapped up the 3 points for the OR’s.
Whilst a massive shout out to all of the team is fully deserving, the extra nod must go to James Murphy for his nimble and very competent switch from the outfield to donning the No 1 Gloves.
Well Done Lads!
