‘Unofficial’ Result Round Up – Saturday 6th May 2017.

The 1st XI took on West Fulham FC in the SSEC League Senior Cup Final today.

The Ruts went ahead through a superb drilled strike from Billy Liffen, although in fairness WFFC had a fair few good chances in the period, which they failed to capitalise on. Likewise the OR’s also had further opportunities too. However, the Interval arrived with the OR’s 1 – 0 ahead.

Immediately after the break West Fulham equalised in the first minute of the half. The Ruts then gradually enhanced their game and hit 3 great goals. The 2nd goal saw Duncan Fraser start and end a stunning team move as he rose like a large Salmon to firmly head home an exquisite cross from Chris Beard.

The Beard Brothers Chris and Michael then both scored great goals to put the Ruts firmly in the driving seat. That’s where the good bit of the story ends, as unfortunately the match was Abandoned after 84 minutes with the Ruts 4 – 1 ahead. For obvious reasons we are unable to comment further on the reasons or causes of this and the matter will now be dealt with by the League and County F.A’s. The League Title was presented to us today and Ruts long serving Captain Nick Raggett and Craig Vernon pose with the Cup below.League
