Results Round Up – 12th September 2015

The 1st XI drew 2 -2 at Trinity AFC – The Ruts lead 2 – 1 before conceding a penalty which levelled for the hosts. Jerome Longville notched a brace. The game was apparently abandoned 10 minutes from time owing to an injury to a home player. Hopefully common sense seems to have taken place as the ref said the result will stand.. we wish the injured player a full and speedy recovery.

The 2nd XI Lost 3 nil…. whilst the 3rd XI who were heavily depleted were comprehensively undone against Old Plymouthians Reserves losing 8 – 1. Scorer TBC?

Results Round Up – 5th September 2015

A decent opening day results wise with two x 3 – 2 away wins.

The 1st XI had a disastrous opening half hour going 2 goals behind despite having several close headed chances themselves. The hosts went ahead courtesy of a deflected effort and doubled their tally before a third of the match had gone. No doubt a half-time rocket was lit but even that didn’t really kick start the Ruts back in to the game until around the 70th minute when a long range free kick from Kieran O’Discroll evaded everyone and went straight in the net. Hanworth looked to have gone 3 – 1 ahead soon after, although the goal was controversially ruled offside. Finally the Ruts upped their game and Club Leg-end Lee ‘Trigger’ Poulter deftly slotted home the OR’s equaliser as the game approached it’s closing stages. Trig continued with some style thereafter as he deftly played in Callum Battershill for a well taken winner – proving that whilst he may have lost some pace and have occasional dodgy hammies – he hasn’t lost any quality. Ruts Keeper Ed Cornwell pulled of several decent saves during the match.

Well done team to the team for not giving up and displaying dogged commitment… but in fairness it was not a good team performance overall.

The 2nd XI beat Old Boys Clapham Reserves 3 – 2 in a game they apparently made hard of. A brace from Jake Burgess and a goal from Jon Taylor proved enough though and the Ruts also missed a penalty. Well done to both teams and best wishes to the Vets and U9’s tomorrow morning in their respective matches.

Results Round-Up – 22nd August 2015.

The 1st XI made quite hard work of overcoming Merton FC with the final score-line of 1 – 0 not reflecting the overall amount of chances the OR’s had to make the win a bit more comfortable. A goal from Dave Weatherhead  midway through the second half proved enough though.

The 2nd XI won 3 – 0 in the later game versus Merton with goals from Jake (surname?) Ben Kennett and Steve Berry.

The details for next weekends games will be on the Facebook group and this website in the next few days.

SIGNING ON FEES ARE DUE

Results Round-Up – 15th August 2015

The Ruts endured a lengthy hold up on the A3 on their way to play Woking & Horsell in two games on Saturday, with the Ruts most capped player and outfield man turned keeper Craig Lyle the unfortunate recipient of a shunt involving a few cars. Fair play to him for still making the game in time to don the gloves for the second half of the first match. An even contest saw the OR’s lose 1 – 0 to a late strike (similar to last week!). The Ruts best chance saw a Duncan Fraser header well saved by the home keeper after a neat team move.

The 2nd XI won 2 – 0 in the second game thanks to goals from Phil Lines and Arnold Collier.. not forgetting the early penalty save from Chris Smith.

Next Saturday the 22nd August will see us play Merton FC in two back to back games at Joseph Hood Rec, with the 1st XI KO first at 2.15pm.
