Results Round Up – Saturday 24th September 2022.

The 1st XI finally got off the mark with a 5 Star performance, following their two previous games which could have gone either way. The Ruts should have been ahead in the first half based on the overall balance of chances. However, the lads finally exploded out of the blocks shortly after half time, as they roared into a 5-0 lead.

The OR’s scorers were Billy Liffen (2) Alex Curme, Sam Leatherby & Billy Whitthread. The Ruts afternoon was slightly dampened as Barnes reduced the deficit with a debatable consolation. Sam Leatherby was the Ruts MOTM with a fine performance in this 5 – 1 Victory.

The A & B Teams were both in Junior Shield Cup action.

The ‘A’ Team somehow managed to through away a 2 – 0 lead against Dorking Cobblers FC, to eventually lose 3 – 2. Tony Furneaux & Robert Quiqley. MOTM TBC.

The ‘B’ Team secured a convincing 4 – 0 win at Mitcham Park Res FC. The Ruts Scorers were Alex Blenkinsop 2, plus strikes from Harry Reeder and Steve Berry, with the latter also securing the MOTM award.

Best wishes to the Ruts Sunday XI tomorrow.

Results Round Up – Saturday 3rd September 2022.

The 1st XI opened their League Campaign with a disappointing 2 – 1 defeat against Chiswick FC.

The OR’s deservedly took the lead shortly after the break courtesy of a decent strike from Billy Liffen. However, the Ruts failed to increase their tally despite having enough possession to do so.

The Visitors levelled midway through the half and despite the game then seemingly heading for a draw, Chiswick pounced again late on.

Young Billy Whitthread nearly levelled for the Ruts with virtually the last kick of the match, alas his delightful long range effort was denied by the crossbar!

Club Leg-end Erol took a mixed 3s/4s Club XI to Purley Old Boys and came away with a 5 – 4 Friendly win. The Ruts goals came courtesy of Alex Blenkinsop 3, plus strikes from Kevin Foster and Steve Berry. Yilmaz awarded Steve Berry the MOTM award.

Best Wishes to the Ruts Sunday XI who open their League Campaign tomorrow at Wandsworth Common Pitch 5 versus Tyne & Thames FC.

Results Round Up – Saturday 27th August 2022.

The Ruts suffered a double defeat in back to back friendly games against Sutton High FC earlier today.

Club XI ‘A’ went down 3 – 1 in the early Kick Off. Paul Gough scored from the Spot.

The score-line was marginally closer in the second match as the Ruts Club XI ‘B’ went down 3 – 2, with Jimmy Jones netting a brace.

Best Wishes to any Ruts Teams playing tomorrow.

Results Round Up – Saturday 20th August 2022.

The Sunday Squad overcame Warlingham Res FC 5 – 2 in their game. The Ruts Scorers were Sam Barton 2, Jamie Collins, David Cecil & Liam Washford-Bent.

The Saturday Squad beat Warlingham FC 3 – 2 thanks to a Billy Liffen brace, plus a Will Mortimer header from a Alfie Dulley corner. Liffen was also the OR’s MOTM.

Result – Saturday 13th August 2022.

The Ruts had a tough battle in the heat away to Chiddingfold FC today.

Late blowouts by the hatful can only be described by words I cannot type on here! However, huge credit to the lads who battled valiantly in securing a 1 – 1 Draw.

Young Harry Swain put the Ruts ahead with a calm finish when he found himself through one on one with the Home Keeper.

Chiddingfold levelled in the same period, following some debatable defending. However, a draw was probably a fair result on the balance of play.

Best wishes to our Sunday XI tomorrow morning.

Results Round Up – Saturday 6th August 2022.

The Ruts had 2 x Friendlies today. In the local match Squad A drew 3 – 3 with Doverhouse. The OR’s Scorers were Panos Karakizis who netted with a powerful Header and Ben Macey who struck a delightful long range effort and an OG. Sam Leatherby was MOTM.

Squad B travelled to Purley Old Boys. The lads went down 7 – 2 with Richard Woolland netting a Brace. Richard Woolland was MOTM.

We have 2 matches again next weekend so get your availability in promptly.

Ian ‘Boony’ Lennard

This is the post from Ian Lennard’s Employers Yesss Electrical, just shows how much Ian was thought of R.I.P.

Dear all contacts, friends, and colleagues on LinkedIn,

It is with a very heavy heart that we have to inform everyone that sadly Ian Lennard, our London Regional Manager, passed away suddenly on Sunday morning as a result of a massive heart attack on Saturday.

We are all absolutely devastated to hear this news as Ian was a truly wonderful man and not just a colleague but a personal friend to many people here at YESSS and the wider electrical wholesale community.

Ian had an absolute indomitable presence within our industry with over 30+ years served, with successful careers as a branch manager, was one of the founding members of YESSS Electrical in 2012 and built a fantastic business within his London region over 10 years, and the camaraderie amongst his regional branches and staff were built from mutual respect and the odd game of golf.

For all that knew him, Ian had a smashing sense of humour and always had a story or experience that would capture the audience and we will no doubt recall them when remembering Ian with a smile.

Ian leaves behind his wife Tracey, as well as 2 teenage daughters Lily and Mia, and our hearts go out to them all at this desperately sad time.

RIP Ian, we will never forget you and will remember all the good times together!
