Vets Result – Sunday 19th November 2017.

The Vets ran out convincing 9 – 2 winners this morning against Leatherhead Vets at Poplar Road.

Undeterred by availability issues this week ‘the bare 11’ put a convincing display on, in the absence of their captivating Manager Lee Poulter and they have Vets Secretary and Club Legend Lee Caffell to thank for officiating soundly in the absence of a recognised official.  Thanks also to  Billy Finnis who no doubt would have helped to ‘pick up the pieces’ in organising things on the day.

The Ruts scorers were Simon Minihane (4), Billy Finnis (2), Dean Riordan (2) and an OG.

Well done to Matt Blomeley & Marc Hawley for stepping up to 45 minutes each in the sticks.

Results Round Up – Saturday 18th November 2017.

The 1st XI ran out 5 – 1 winners against Ashtead FC at Poplar Road earlier today, securing a further all important 3 points.

The OR’s conceded a soft goal early on before spinning the game on it’s head before the interval with 4 goals courtesy of Zak Graham, Duncan Fraser, Jimmy Graham & Chris Beard. The pick of the bunch was Beard’s strike in the 28th minute, as he fired home at the end of a slick move involving Billy Liffen and Jimmy Graham.

Inspired keeping from the Visitors included a penalty save limited the Ruts to just one second half goal, which was a Zak Graham blazing strike from an acute angle.

The 2nd XI were clearly involved in an epic cup tie at Woking & Horsell Res FC, in a match that finished 4 – 4 in normal time. News reaches us that Steve Asomaning was in stunning form in the Ruts goal making some epic saves including a penalty.

2 – 2 at the break, 4 – 3 ahead in the final stages and then we only managed to convert 1 of 4 penalties taken in the shootout, converted by Kyle Moore. Wow! Normal time scorers TBC.

The 3rd XI went down 4 – 1 at Old Plymouthians Res FC in the League. Darren Bloomfield notched the OR’s consolation.

The 4th XI continued their resurgent run as they beat St Martins FC 6 – 2 in the Teck Cup 2nd Round, thanks to braces from Dean Riordan and Sam Colebrook, plus striked from Miles Wiltshire & Jason Hughes.

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior teams tomorrow.

Results Sunday 5th of November

I just asked our inspirational Vets Manager Lee ‘Trigger’ Poulter how he (the team) got on today and he reported as follows ‘I managed to get the kit there but was way too pissed to participate, Won 3 – 2.

No doubt his poor condition followed his epic evening of hosting and playing life sized Cluedo! It was Trigger in the Dressing Room, with the Linesman’s flag.

Anyway, we now know the Vets won 3 – 2 at HSBC earlier today thanks to a Billy Finnis brace and a strike from Steve Lovell.

Well done too, to the Juniors for securing a 5 out 5 Clean sweep, which included the result of the Season so far as the U15 Girls secured their first ever Victory by winning      5 – 1 at Guildford – what an epic result.

Results Round Up – Saturday 4th November 2017.

The 1st XI went goal crazy in the County Cup today, as they comprehensively overcame Worplesdon Phoenix FC 9 – 1 at Poplar Road. The Ruts came out of the blocks in an extremely lively fashion and they were a goal ahead in less than a minute, when Zak Graham deftly lobbed the keeper, following a Chris Beard interception which put him through on goal.

Then, on 6 minutes the Effervescent Paul ‘Whitto’ Whitthread fired home a Billy Liffen cross and Skipper Chris Beard then made it 3 – 0, with a header in the 24th minute.

Whitto then struck again for his brace in the 37th minute, after a good advantage from the Referee, after Zac Graham was fouled in the area.

Stand in Keeper Darren Honey went off injured midway through the half leaving Paul Tuckey to step up off the Bench to deputise further, and the Visitors managed to reduce the arrears with a consolation strike in the 43rd minute.

In the second half Zak Graham’s finishing totally killed the game off, as potent strikes in the 50th, 56th and 62nd minutes put the outcome well beyond any doubt.

Two further strikes effectively put the icing on the cake, as Chris Beard notched his second goal and brace in the 78th minute, before Zak struck a fitting rasper for his very impressive 5 goal haul from the game. Final Score 9 – 1.  Best wishes to our opponents (who stayed for a few beers) for the rest of their Season.

The 2nd XI also secured a convincing victory as the won 4 – 1 at Chipstead Athletic FC. The Ruts goals came via Paul Gough, Steve Berry, Gary Wilton and Jack McGoldrick.

The only downside of the OR’s day, was the hefty 6 – 1 defeat suffered by the 3rd XI against Worcester Park ‘A’ FC. Scott Stoney notched the Ruts goal early on.

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior Teams tomorrow.
