Results Round Up – Saturday 26th October 2019.

The 1st XI’s County Cup Opposition were unable to field a team, so consequently the Ruts progress to the next round without even kicking a ball.

The 2nd XI continued their positive run of results as they came back from 1-0 down at half time to win 2 – 1. Joint Manager George Tidey commented ‘Toby ‘top-bins’ Lempriere scored a brace in the 2nd half, in what was a really hard fought battle. Tidey added, ‘Twitter has gone mad with the hashtag #MappyWho’, as he took a tongue in cheek ‘banter pop’ at his absent Co-Manager Jon Mapp.

The 3rd XI suffered a poor away day at Croygas Falcons FC, as they went down 6 – 0.

The young 4th XI came incredibly close to securing their first win and 3 points of the season, although they actually ended up drawing 4-4 at NPL ‘B’ FC. The Ruts Scorers were Josh Andrews, Charlie Andrews, Matt O’Flaherty and an O.G.

Manager Chris Bain reported ‘I saw a different side to my players today, they were very upbeat and this showed on the pitch, as we were 3-0 up before half time. Unfortunately, the inexperience showed and NPL came back fighting. 4-3 with last minutes to be played, our players flat to the floor, the inevitable happened, ball over the top and a simple tap in. The Lads are very disappointed, although I told them said we should be upbeat, because our learning of the game is improving and we secured our first point against a well experienced side. (Massive well done to Chris and his team on securing their first point and so nearly 3!).

Best wishes to the Ruts Youth Teams tomorrow.

We had the full mixed bag of results again today!

The 1st XI secured a well deserved point away at Battersea Ironsides FC. The Ruts fell behind in the 12th minute and eventually levelled things up in the 93rd minute through Duncan Fraser. Joint Manager Marc Skinner was particularly pleased with the teams 2nd half performance and team spirit.

The 3rd XI’s scheduled Cup Match was cancelled.

The youthful 4th XI’s challenging start in men’s football continued, as they suffered a tough 9 – 0 home defeat against Shelton Athletic FC. However, there were a number of impressive individual performances. Work in progress and the only way is up. Keep going chaps.

Results Round Up – Saturday 28th September 2019.

The 1st XI secured a 1- 1 draw at Farleigh Rovers FC. They fell behind to a 33rd minute penalty and equalised for themselves late in the second half. The Ruts also earned a Penalty which was successfully despatched by Zak Graham.

In referring to the second half, Joint Manager Marc Skinner stated, ‘we asked the team to show some b……., that is all we asked’.

The 2nd XI drew 3 – 3 with early Season table toppers Wanderers FC at Poplar Road. Joint Manager Jon Mapp quoted ‘we came from behind on 3 occasions, thanks to a Joe Baker penalty, a 25 yard bullet from George Tidey and a decent back post header from Alex Blenkinsop’.

The 3rd XI had a day to forget at Wandgas Vets FC, as they had a ‘bad away day’ losing 9 – 1, with Mark Todd notching the OR’s consolation. Manager Erol Yilmaz delivered the quote of the day, by lamenting ‘out of 14 of my players, 8 of-em are fat’ the other 6 were reasonably thin ones!’ #grassrootsclassic.

Chris Bain’s youthful 4th XI put in an improved display against A.M.Y. Res FC. Despite leading for a long period through a Matt O’Flaherty goal (MOTM performance), the Ruts finally ended up being punished late on, Bain quoted ‘ the visitors scored when we were down to 10 men, and then twice again, when we were down to 9 players, all of these shortages were attributable to ‘sin-bin’ situations’. Club Note – So we are sure he’ll be telling his team there is a lesson worth learning within that.

Best wishes to the Junior Teams tomorrow.

Results Round Up – Saturday 21st September 2019.

The 1st XI suffered a 3 – 1 defeat at Lyne FC. The Ruts lead at the break courtesy of a Billy Liffen goal. However, Lyne turned things around in the second half. Zak Graham was the OR’s MOTM.

The 2nd XI did not have a match this Week.

The 3rd XI drew 3 – 3 at Home to Worcester Park ‘A’ FC. The Ruts lead 3 times and were pegged back on each occasion. The Ruts goals came via Mark Todd, Jake Searles and Paul Whitthread. Jake Searles was the OR’s MOTM

The very youthful 4th XI suffered a hefty 11 – 1 defeat Away to Motspur Park Res FC.  However, New Manager Chris Bain was upbeat and philosophical, stating ‘the big plus was the lads never felt sorry for themselves and offered 100% commitment’. Apparently several deflected goals and an unjust penalty set the tone early on. Scorer TBC, MOTM for the Ruts was Matt O’Flaherty.

Best wishes to the Junior Teams tomorrow.
