Results Round Up – Saturday 26th October 2019.

The 1st XI’s County Cup Opposition were unable to field a team, so consequently the Ruts progress to the next round without even kicking a ball.

The 2nd XI continued their positive run of results as they came back from 1-0 down at half time to win 2 – 1. Joint Manager George Tidey commented ‘Toby ‘top-bins’ Lempriere scored a brace in the 2nd half, in what was a really hard fought battle. Tidey added, ‘Twitter has gone mad with the hashtag #MappyWho’, as he took a tongue in cheek ‘banter pop’ at his absent Co-Manager Jon Mapp.

The 3rd XI suffered a poor away day at Croygas Falcons FC, as they went down 6 – 0.

The young 4th XI came incredibly close to securing their first win and 3 points of the season, although they actually ended up drawing 4-4 at NPL ‘B’ FC. The Ruts Scorers were Josh Andrews, Charlie Andrews, Matt O’Flaherty and an O.G.

Manager Chris Bain reported ‘I saw a different side to my players today, they were very upbeat and this showed on the pitch, as we were 3-0 up before half time. Unfortunately, the inexperience showed and NPL came back fighting. 4-3 with last minutes to be played, our players flat to the floor, the inevitable happened, ball over the top and a simple tap in. The Lads are very disappointed, although I told them said we should be upbeat, because our learning of the game is improving and we secured our first point against a well experienced side. (Massive well done to Chris and his team on securing their first point and so nearly 3!).

Best wishes to the Ruts Youth Teams tomorrow.
