Results Round Up – Saturday 18th September 2021.

We achieved a clean sweep of the wrong kind today!

The 1st XI lost 4 – 1 at Home to Chelsea Rovers FC. Despite the final Scoreline the Ruts went ahead through a neat move involving Fabio Bagulho and Ashley Daly who threaded a neat through pass to Sam Leatherby who fired the Ruts into a 20 minute lead.

The Visitors equalised on 27mins and the interval arrived with the teams level. In the second period a cross come shot put them ahead and the Ruts were unable to score again. With their only option left being to through caution to the wind, this backfired somewhat as Rovers hit twice more late on to wrap up their 3 points.

The 2nd XI Lost 4 – 2 in the early game at Tooting Bec ‘B’ FC Dean Riordan and Liam Washford Bent notched the Ruts Goals.

The 3rd XI went down 5 -1 against O.B. Clapham Res FC. Alex Phillips scored the Ruts consolation.

The 4th XI suffered a 5 – 0 defeat at Home to Westside ‘A’ FC.

Best wishes to all of the Ruts Sunday Teams tomorrow – we hope you fair better than we did today!

Sunday Result News – 5th September 2021.

WINNING SUNDAYS

A massive shift from the boys today to bring home the bacon in a 4-2 win against a decent Junction Elite side. The boys started a little slow with Junction putting on some early pressure but the wall Murphy in the net wasn’t shaken.

At the back some absolutely solid performances from the Powell duo, Seatho, and Wright. The boys took an early lead with a calm composed finish from TK and a second shortly after a neat header from Shelley to see us lead by 2 into the second half. Jackson Ray with a sensational goal line clearance to keep the sheet clean going into halftime. The second half the boys were out for blood and David Cecil scored a quick third followed by a 4th by JC.

Howie and Alder looked mustard and solid in the middle dictating the tempo before a lethal swipe of the leg from Ken Dog to give them a Penalty and a goal on the sheet.

Unfortunately for us, another handball was given and the junction scored a second penalty. The boys didn’t concede off open play today and some serious performances all around the park.

MOTM: David Cecil

Dick of the Day: Wrighty

Goals: TK, Shelley, Cecil, JC

Assists: Cecil, Barton x2, TK

Eyes peeled for some more announcements this week

The Ruts Sunday XI after their first game on Sunday 5th September 2021.

Results Round Up – Saturday 4th September 2021.

The 1st XI’s opening fixture saw them slump to a 6 – 1 defeat at Richmond & Kew FC. Despite the score line, the match was actually an even contest for just shy of an hour.

The Ruts went ahead on 34 minutes courtesy of a Will Mortimer strike at the end of some concerted pressure. However, the Hosts levelled a few minutes before half time when a fortuitous cross evaded Keeper Evan Watson who had pulled off some terrific saves earlier in the half. So we were level at the Interval.

The last half hour or so was a different story, as the Ruts succumbed to making too many errors which were punished ruthlessly. We move on again next Week!

The 2nd XI were in reality a mixture of our 3 Junior sides and they were badly let down by 4 no shows on the day! This was always going to be a tough game against a decent Frenches Athletic Reserves and our 47 year old 4th XI Manager got plenty of minutes to boost his keen fitness. The final score was a very hefty 13 – 2 defeat.

Best wishes to our New Sunday XI in their opening fixture tomorrow and also any other Ruts sports teams on the field of play.
