Club News Update – Friday 7th April 2017

The 1st XI’s League Match at Chessington KCFC has been called off tomorrow, as our Opponents are unable to field a team. This is obviously a real pain, although on the plus side, it should mean that we will be Champions with a game to spare. This is on the basis that we should be awarded the 3 points following the SSEC League meeting this coming Monday.

So a massive WELL DONE done to Jim, Marc and the Squad on their great achievement. Hopefully the Team can see out their campaign in the coming weeks, which culminates in the League Cup Final against West Fulham FC on the 6th May. Full details to follow on this and your support will be most welcome.

The team are meeting at the Club tomorrow from 2.00pm for plenty of celebratory beers.

Finally, a MASSIVE Congratulations and well done to Boo’s largely young 4th XI for securing promotion as Runners-Up in their first season since reforming. This combined with a semi final appearance and narrow defeat was a huge credit to the team. If anyone is interested in joining a group of us at the KDFL Presentation Dinner on Friday 26th May then let Gavin Lennard know, the Tickets are £30 per head and it will be a good evening.

Results Round Up – Saturday 1st April 2017.

The 1st XI secured a convincing 7 – 0 victory over Ashtead FC at Poplar Road this afternoon. The 3rd XI went down 2 – 1 at Shaftesbury Town ‘A’ FC to add to their woes as they aim to avoid the drop. Ben Kennett notched the OR’s Goal.

The 1st XI won 5 – 0 at Wandgas Sports in the League, largely thanks to a blistering first half display which saw them 4 – 0 up at the interval thanks to a terrific Hatrick from Ruts MOTM Chris Beard and a decent lob from Graham Rolfe.

The Ruts added a further goal from Billy Liffen in the second half to complete a solid result. Thanks to Big Stephen Asomaning for ably stepping up from the 2nd XI in the sticks until further notice.

Crazy incident of the day – naming 3 subs, using 2 and losing a player to injury with 10 minutes to go. Where is the 3rd Sub? he had been in the Bar all game!, hence we played the game out with 10 men.

The 3rd XI secured a most welcome 3 – 2 victory at Diaspora Sports in the League thanks to a Simon Minihane brace and a strike from Richard Edmonds.

The 4th XI suffered Cup Semi Final agony against NPL at Poplar Road as they suffered a defeat AET on penalties after their Joe Hankin Cup match finished at 2 – 2.. Scorers TBC

Results Round-Up – Saturday 18th March 2017.

The 1st XI put in a very solid, albeit not a glamorous performance in their quest for the title today, as they managed to overcome Hanworth Sports 4 – 1 away in the League.

The Ruts went ahead on 5 minutes from the spot after Michael Beard was upended and Zac Graham promptly slotted home. The hosts levelled before the interval, courtesy of an innocuous own goal.

In the second period a trademark strike from Graham Rolfe and two further goals from top scorer Zac Graham saw him complete his hatrick (including a great 25 yard free kick) which lead to a deserved MOTM award. Billy Liffen was also apparently outstanding with a tireless performance.

The 3rd XI went down 3 – 1 at Trinity Reserves in a day to forget. Ruts Player Manager Erol Yilmaz was harshly dismissed for 2 yellows, whilst Ben Kennett scored the OR’s consolation.

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior Teams tomorrow.
