The 1st XI put in a decent performance overall in their 4 -2 defeat at Selhurst FC earlier today and ultimately they were left disappointed with the end result.
Ruts fell behind in the first half and despite chances at both ends during the period, they were then knocked by a sucker blow on the cusp of half time, as the Hosts doubled their lead.
The second half saw the Ruts fall further behind, before responding well with two cracking goals reducing the arrears to 3 – 2. A well delivered Fabio Bagulho corner was powered in from a Ashley Daly header and this was shortly followed by neat work from Alex Blenkinsop and persistence from Billy Liffen, which saw the latter brilliantly set up Toby Lempriere who deftly slotted in the OR’s second.
The match was flowing end to end, as it largely did throughout. However, Selhurst wrapped things up, when they added their 4th. Evan Watson pulled off some great saves and was our MOTM.
The 2nd XI had a weekend off.
The 3rd XI’s rare outing at Poplar Road ended in a disappointing defeat as they lost 6 – 1 to Shelton Athletic. Aaron Sandys notched the OR’s consolation goal and we hope he enjoys his imminent and ongoing 30th Birthday Drinks at the Ruts tonight!
The effervescent aging 4th XI prevented a whole day of Ruts L’s as they secured a decent point at KPR Res FC. Club Legend Andy Flanagan scored the Ruts goal and MOTM Award.
The Walking Football team also put in a very decent performance this morning against Thames FC who proved strong opposition once again. The outcome was a 2 – 0 win for Thames, although we edged closer to competing more closely with established teams and we will improve further. John Walker was the Ruts MOTM.
Best Wishes to the Ruts Teams playing tomorrow.
