The 1st XI’s scheduled match versus Horsley FC was postponed.
The 2nd XI progressed to the Surrey Cup 2nd round by winning a game of 2 different halves against Reigate Priory Reserves FC earlier today.
A bright start saw the Ruts go 1-0 up early thanks to a pearl of a strike from the young & impressive Jake Searles, before complacency set in with the Ruts then holding on until half time.
Some stern words from joint manager Jon Mapp, coupled with words of encouragement from George Tidey ensured the Ruts went back to playing with freedom. A dominant 2nd half display saw goals from Aaron Sandys, Alex Blenkinsop and another from Jake Searles for his deserved brace as the Ruts came out 4-0 winners. Joint manager Jon Mapp quoted “some hairdryer treatment at half time kicked the boys into gear to play some excellent second half football.
The 3rd XI lost 2 – 1 at Home to WKFC. Manager Erol Yilmaz was philosophical as he stated Just when the caterpillar thought the world was ending – he turned into a butterfly. Yilmaz added, Gough scored – we didn’t get thrashed thankfully.
The youthful 4th XI suffered a close 3 – 2 away defeat at Wanderers Reserves FC. The Ruts goals came courtesy of Josh Andrews and Jamie Eyrres. We await the wise words of Manager Chris Bain for his pearly nuggets on the events.
Best wishes to the Junior Teams tomorrow.
