Results Round Up – Saturday 12th January 2019.

The 1st XI eventually lost a keenly contested Cup tie against Wandgas FC 4 – 3 earlier today. The match had pretty much everything you’d expect with goals, a flurry of cards, both teams hitting the woodwork and a fair share of further controversy.

A tight first half saw the deadlock broken on the cusp of the interval by Zak Graham who’s well struck 20 yard effort secured Ruts the lead.

The second half saw much of the same, the hosts levelled, then Jimmy Graham neatly converted to restore the OR’s lead. Wandgas levelled yet again and both teams then had chances to win the game in normal time.

Duncan Fraser saw Red for a second yellow card 5 minutes from normal time, which meant the Ruts then had to play extra time with 10 men.

The Ruts task was then made taller, as Wandgas fired a long range effort in the first minute of extra time to take the lead
3 – 2. The 10 men continued to create chances themselves and Chris Beard levelled from a Jimmy Graham corner to make it 3 – 3.

With the match seemingly going to penalties Wandgas promptly notched their winner just a few seconds after the Referee had blown for a free-kick, but then waved play on. Good luck to Wandgas in the next round.

The 2nd XI lost 2 – 0 at home to Raynes Park Vale Res FC. Alex Blenkinsop saw red in this game.

We are waiting to hear how the 3rd v 4th XI friendly went.

Best wishes to the Ruts Junior teams tomorrow.
