Old Ruts Football Club

Old Rutlishians AFC (Old Ruts) is made up of ex-pupils of Rutlish School, amateur sportsman from the local community and the friends and relatives of existing players. It was reformed after a 58 year absence in the summer of 1990 having originally run from 1907 until 1932 when it folded after being replaced by Rugby as the popular winter sport at the Old Rutlishians

The 1st XI came out of the traps incredibly strongly for their first game of the New Year against LDN South West FC earlier today. . The Ruts raced into 2 nil lead inside 4 minutes and were 3 up on the 15 minute mark, finally reaching the interval 4 goals ahead. The OR’s added 3 second half goals to make the final score 7 – 0. The Ruts Scorers were Captain and MOTM Chris Beard (3), Michael Beard (2), Billy Liffen and Jimmy Graham.

The 2nd XI went down 4 – 2 against Battersea Boys FC. Will Southward and Mason Foster notched for the Ruts.

The 3rd XI drew 2 – 2 at RH Athletic FC. The OR’s scorers were George Tidey and Kevin Foster.

The 4th XI suffered a hefty 11 – 2 Cup defeat against Hampton Town FC who are flying high in the division above them. The OR’s scorers were Sam Maclean and Aaron Betteridge.
