If ever there was a day when we our ranks were severely depleted, then this could well be it! Despite this, we still fielded 3 much changed teams and gave 1st XI debuts to 17 year old Jake Searles and ‘just turned 18’ years old Robbie Larcombe. Both young men started this season with the 4th XI, before being deservedly promoted recently to the 2nd XI and today Jake started and Robbie played over an hour for the 1st XI and reports reach us, advising that both players acquitted themselves very well, which bodes well for the future. Well done men.
Anyway, the revised look 1st XI which also included rare match starts for the joint Managers Nick Raggett & Marc Skinner (who are both usually snug in their pitchside tracksuits) saw them win 3 – 2 at Windlesham Utd.FC thanks to a Zak Graham brace (including an absolute belter for his second) and the winning goal was scored by no other than Marc Skinner, as he struck home at the far post to earn the Ruts a hard fought victory, Ruts MOTM was keeper Mike Tsavdaridis.
The 2nd XI went down 1 – 5 at home against Merton Social Res FC in the Ellis Cup, a close fought first half saw Kyle Moore level for the Ruts. Alas, a late flurry of goals from the hosts wrapped the game up comfortably for them in the end.
The 3rd XI went down 5 – 0 at home to Croydon Falcons FC, also in the Ellis Cup.
Best wishes to the Junior teams tomorrow.
