Results Round Up – Saturday 17th November 2018

The 1st XI made incredibly hard work of overcoming a determined Forestdale FC earlier today. The Ruts fell behind to an early goal, before a clever turn and strike from Jimmy Graham levelled things up midway through the half. However, the OR’s then paid the price for ample awry finishing and a defensive error, as they fell behind again close to half time. Credit to the home keeper for pulling off some decent stops too.

The start of the second half was much of the same, as numerous decent chances and a few open goals could and should have been converted.  Pleasingly, the continual chances eventually enabled the Ruts to turn the match around, as Duncan Fraser struck a left footed effort from a tight angle. Soon after Graham Rolfe struck the goal of the game, as his phenomenal strike from around 30 yards fizzed into the hosts net.

At 3 – 2 up the Ruts rearguard still needed to be alert to the Forestdale threats, although eventually 2 goals from OR’s inspirational skipper Chris Beard finally put the game to bed to secure the all important 3 points.

The 2nd XI beat Reigate Priory Res FC at Poplar Road thanks to goals from Harry Reeder and Aaron Sandys.

The 3rd XI drew 2 – 2 at Supercala FC. The OR’s goals were scored by Darren Bloomfield and Matt Vandepeer, the Ruts can also rue a missed penalty opportunity quite late in the match.

The predominantly youthful 4th XI sprang into a 2 – 0 lead and then reached the interval level at 2 – 2.. Darkside eventually ran out 7 – 3 victors. The Ruts can be pleased with the development of some of the youngsters in the team as some of them have been featuring in the 2nds in recent weeks.

Best wishes to the Ruts Junior Teams tomorrow.
