The 1st XI secured a very credible draw at Raynes Park Vale FC today, in what was a decent test against Combined Counties opposition.
The Ruts went ahead on 25 minutes when a cross come shot effort from Jimmy Graham evaded the RPV keeper at the far post. Credit to Adam Seymour for setting up the goal with a long range pass.
The hosts levelled courtesy of a long range free kick on 33 minutes. Although the Ruts rallied immediately and restored their lead thanks to clever work and a swift finish from Jimmy Graham, as he latched on to Chris Beard’s pass evading his markers thereby enabling the OR’s to reach the interval 2 – 1 ahead.
The second half was equally competitive and it was the hosts who scored next to level the match on 55 minutes, with a goal the Ruts will be disappointed to have conceded.
Overall this was a pleasing result and performance for the Ruts, especially given the teams respective placings. Graham Rolfe was the OR’s man of the match, with a sublime performance in the engine room.
News reaches us that the 2nd XI went down 3 – 0 at Reigate Reserves and we hope to have further details from this match later.
