Results Round Up – Saturday 24th March 2018.

The 1st XI secured a 3 – 1 victory against Old Plymouthians FC at Poplar Road earlier today. The OR’s were slow out the traps and promptly went a goal down, before getting themselves in to the game.  Duncan Fraser levelled with a terrific header and Zak Graham converted from the spot to provide the Ruts with a 2 – 1 interval lead.

The ever committed Fraser sustained a nasty cut to the head on the hour mark and had to reluctantly leave the field. Jimmy Graham notched the Ruts third following a one on one opportunity which he duly converted.

The 2nd XI suffered a classic case of ‘tough day at the Office’, which was no doubt partially attributable to the inexcusable blowout of 3 players at midday. Well done to Sporting 50 FC for progressing in the cup at our expense, as they ran out 7 – 2 victors. Paul Gough notched a brace in his quest to rally his team.

The 3rd XI were apparently well off of the pace in a poor performance as they went down 1 – 0 at Home to Beckenham FC to increase their relegation concerns.

The 4th XI secured a splendid 4 – 3 win in the Cup against Thornton Heath FC in a full bloodied end to end epic cup tie.

The Ruts went a goal down before Dean Riordan levelled from the spot. The game was end to end for most of the 90 minutes with the scoreline going to and fro! 3 – 3 in the closing stages with Riordan adding a second from a free kick which evaded everyone and a deft lob from Sam Colebrook.

Harry Reeder scored the Ruts winner with a header. 3 of the 4 goals were caught on camera and will be circulated in due course!

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior teams tomorrow.
