Results Round-Up – Saturday 17th February 2018.

The 1st XI secured a Surrey Intermediate Cup Semi-Final place for only the 3rd time, with a win on penalties over Copthorne FC earlier today. The OR’s last reached the final four in 2007, so it has been a long time coming!

The Ruts fell a goal behind in the 1st period and levelled courtesy of a trademark Duncan Fraser Header around the 50 minute mark and the final score at 90 minutes was 1 – 1.

Therefore, without extra time at this stage of the Cup, the penalty shootout then ensued.

The Ruts missed their first penalty, before promptly despatching their next 3, thanks to superb finishes from Joe Pratley-Jones , Chris Beard and Dan Lawrence. The Ruts main man of the moment proved to be Adam Seymore who finely saved 2 penalties, which massively contributed to the OR’s 3 – 2 win on penalties. As the Visitors also missed a 3rd penalty, the Ruts victory was secured with a spot kick to spare. Well done to Nick Raggett and the team on their Victory.

The 4th XI gained a really decent 3 – 2 win over 2nd placed Lower Green FC, on a pitch which was a total mud-bath in some places and yet fine in other areas.

The Ruts fell a goal behind, before Captain Dean Riordan hit a lovely leveller. The lads dug really deep at times and 2 phenomenal strikes from Sam Colebrook put the Ruts in the driving seat, before the Visitors reduced the arrears with a few minutes to go, although the Ruts rearguard held very firm.

Special mention must be made of Keeper Robert Faulkner who pulled of multiple excellent saves to deny the Visitors.

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior Teams tomorrow.
