Results Round Up – Saturday 27th January 2018.

The 1st XI progressed to the Quarter Final stage of the Surrey Cup today, thanks to a 4 – 1 victory over Woking & Horsell FC.

The first period was pretty scrappy with both teams restricted to the odd decent chance and the interval arrived goalless. However, the Ruts kicked in to gear in the 3rd minute of the second half when a cracking team move enabled the pacey Billy Liffen to impressively fire the OR’s in to the lead.

Top Scorer Zak Graham then struck 2 x delightful goals in the 29th and 31st minutes of the half. The first saw a terrific run and shot double the Ruts lead and his second was a firmly placed header from a Joe Pratley-Jones free kick.

In injury time the Visitors reduced the arrears, before Substitute Gary Wilton promptly made his mark by adding the Ruts 4th goal.

The Ruts will now host Copthorne FC in the Quarter Final on the 17th of February.

The 2nd XI were postponed.

The 3rd XI secured a most welcome victory in their cup match as they beat Shaftesbury Town ‘A’ thanks to goals from Darren Bloomfield, Jon Mapp and Ciaran Moorhouse. Ruts joint player manager Richard Edmonds stated ‘it was an absolutely quality performance in really tough conditions, the Ref was thinking of calling it off at half time’.

The 4th XI drew 2 – 2 with Sutton Celtic FC. The OR’s goals came from Dean Riordan and Sam Park.

The Vets match scheduled for tomorrow has been Postponed.

Best wishes to the Junior Teams tomorrow.
