Not a great day overall results wise. All 4 teams were depleted in some shape or form and we did incredibly well to actually get 4 sides out, especially the 3rd XI.
We cannot gloss over the 1st XI result, as they bowed out of the County Cup following a disappointing and under par performance against KPRFC. The Ruts went ahead through Reece Jackson. An own goal and a decent strike then put the visitors ahead, before Billy Liffen levelled with a virtuoso quality goal to make it 2 – 2 at the interval.
In the second half the Ruts had plenty of chances to wrap things up, but they were unable to do so and consequently with a penalty shoot-out seemingly imminent, the visitors had a rare 2nd half attack with 2 minutes left to play and they nicked a 3 – 2 victory. Good luck to them in the next round.
The 2nd XI drew 1 – 1 at Kew Park Rangers today. The Ruts goal came via the penalty spot courtesy of Steve Berry.
Erol’s 3rd XI were in touching distant of pulling off an unlikely victory at Perrywood Sports in the County Cup. Apparently we went 2 goals up and the hosts levelled very deep in to injury time. The lads then lost the resulting penalty shoot-out. Scorers TBC.
The 4th XI picked up the only Ruts win of the day! as they won 2 – 0 at NPL ‘B’ FC thanks to yet another golden brace from young Harry Reeder.
Best wishes to the Vets and Junior teams tomorrow.
