Results Round Up – Saturday 5th November 2016

The 1st XI had the weekend off again!

The 2nd XI will no doubt follow up with a comprehensive report. However, my text from Mel said ‘we played well’ . Whiz bang firecrackers from Ollie Hicks and Ben Kennett proved enough to secure a solid 2 – 0 league win over NPL Reserves.

The 3rd XI still await their first win of the campaign, as they went down 3 – 1 to Old Plymouthians Res. The Ruts took an early lead through Jack McGoldrick, although the visitors fought back to claim the points.

The 4th XI continued their goal-tastic season as they fired 6 goals passed Epsom Casuals at Poplar Road. The Ruts blazed brightly in to a 4 – 0 half time lead thanks to some cracking goals. An absolutely quality free-kick from Dean Riordan set the Ruts up, and this was followed by stunning long range efforts from Freddie Patterson and Will Allardyce.

Not to be outdone Aaron Betteridge had a lofted effort nestling in the net ahead of the break.

The second period was a closer affair overall as the visitors clawed their way back in to the game. The closest the scoreline got to was 5 – 4 overall. The Ruts 5th goal was a Catherine Wheel rasper from Myles Wiltshire and a cheeky deft effort from Harry Reeder which finally put the game to bed at 6 – 4 to the Ruts. Good effort from the lads who can score goals in abundance, although Boo-Boo will be in the boot-room looking for his tictacs or tactics to combate the leaking end of the pitch. Great to see the lads play at Poplar Road.

Best wishes to the Vets and Junior teams tomorrow.
