Results Round-Up – Saturday 10th September 2016

The 1st XI got off to a terrific start to their League campaign as they won 3 – 1 at Old Plymouthians FC this afternoon.

Both teams started positively, although it was the Ruts who were successful in applying significant damage to the hosts by securing a 3 – 0 interval lead.

Good work and a deft cross from Lee Poulter led to Zac Graham heading home at the far post on the 25 minute mark and Graham doubled both his and the teams tally in the 38th minute with a well struck effort from outside of the box.

Shortly before the interval Reece Jackson hit a well struck free kick from the left hand side of the OP’s penalty area which curled in nicely close to the right hand post evading the home keeper.

In the second period the Ruts were guilty of not burying the game, as they were unable to convert a large number of chances.

OP’s reduced the arrears courtesy of a deflected free kick, which proved to be the final goal of the game.

This was a sound & solid Ruts performance, which saw a number of very good performances from the players – well done men.

The 2nd XI went down 4 – 3 at Cheam VW FC in their official season opener which was a disappointing result for the lads. The OR’s scorers were Phil Lines, Ollie Hicks and Steve Berry.

Best wishes to the Ruts Juniors tomorrow.
