Result from Saturday 4th April

The Ruts bowed out of the League Shield in disastrous fashion, as the wheels well and truly fell off of their mini-revival bus. A gifted goal in the first minutes set the the tone and despite the fact that the Ruts dominated most of the first period they were left to rue a disallowed Fraser header and some inspired keeping from the AC No 1 to stop them from levelling – despite the pressure the hosts dealt a sucker blow by doubling their tally close to the interval.

The second period saw AC gifted an early third and despite them being reduced to 10 men midway through the period, the damage had been done and the Ruts poor season ended with a whimper.

Roll on 2014-15 as things can only get better!……….

Results Round-Up – 14th March

The 1st XI lost 1 – 0 to Westminster Casuals at Poplar Road. The OR’s conceded an early goal whilst the Visitors were on top. The Ruts gradually got in to the game and enjoyed plenty of possession and created some decent chances, largely through set pieces, alas, nothing to show for our efforts.

The 3rd XI lost 3 – 1 to Melwood with Gough on the Ruts scoresheet.

Best wishes to the Vets tomorrow

Results Round-Up – 7th March 2015

The 1st XI beat Godstone 3 – 2 in the Senior Shield at Poplar Road today. The visitors were lively early doors and the Ruts had Mike Lines to thank for several decent first half saves. Billy Liffen then put the OR’s ahead with a strike the keeper could only parry. The game remained largely close throughout, although the Ruts went further ahead through a deft strike from Cathal McGrath and a distanced walloper from Kyle Moore which was a decent strike. The visitors provided a tense end to the closing stages by reducing the arrears to 3 – 2. However, it is the Ruts name in the hat for the next round as the team build their quest in obtaining some joy from the season.

The 3rd XI went down 3 – 2 at Sutton High Reserves with George Tidey and Jack McGoldrick notching for the Ruts.

Good luck to the Vets tomorrow
