Results Round-Up – Saturday 6th February 2016.

The 1st XI drew 0 – 0 at home to Westminster Casuals today. The game was largely dictated by the swirling wind and in truth it was consequently a scrappy affair. On the plus side, a last minute no show forced player manager Jim Boxall in to the starting line-up and credit to him for putting in a solid 90 minutes at full back earning himself the OR’s MOTM award of having to buy beers for his team-mates. The quote of the day (overheard post match in the Ruts dressing room) came from caretaker Captain Duncan Fraser who has been deputising for the injured Nick Raggett since Xmas ….’we are undefeated in 75% of the games we’ve played since I have been Captain’ in other words referring to the 2 wins, a narrow 1 – 0 o.g defeat, plus today’s scoreless draw bringing a better return than pre-xmas!

The 3rd XI earned a handsome 4 – 1 league win over Real Holmesdale Res FC at Nursery Road, thanks to goals from Dan Martin, Dan Larkin, Ollie Hicks and Paul Gough.

Best wishes to the Vets and U9’s tomorrow.

Results Round-Up – Saturday 30th January 2016

The 1st XI secured a most welcome victory with a committed all round team performance against Chessington KCFC today. A penalty on 5 minutes from Mears was cancelled out 3 minutes later when a CKCFC Corner curled right in to the far corner of the Ruts net. Hughes made his long journey worthwhile on 15 minutes when he rose high to see his header thwart the away keeper who could only help the ball in to the net. Wiltshire neatly beat the offside trap to provide the Ruts with a 3 – 1 cushion at the break.

The visitors reduced the arrears following a defensive error around the hour mark, although the OR’s were not going to have another bleak day at the office as substitute Gough finished from close range following a decent cross goal header from Hughes and Moore put the icing on the cake following a determined run which presented him with the opportunity to finish well with a sweet overhead kick. Big well done to all of the team, especially those stepping up to the plate to ably fill the voids being left by those out injured and unavailable.

The 2nd XI suffered a hefty 5 – 0 away defeat at RPV ‘A’ FC, one to forget I would imagine. Best wishes to the Vets and U9’s tomorrow.
