Results Round-Up – 13th August 2016

The 1st XI secured a 3 – 2 win over Royal Holloway Old Boys FC courtesy of 3 decent goals. Long range first half raspers from Zak Graham and Graham Rolfe put the Ruts ahead before RHOB reduced the deficit before the interval. The OR’s dominated for long spells throughout, but were only able to add one further goal to their tally courtesy of Reece Jackson. The visitors notched again to complete the goals for the day. Best wishes to Neil Orr with his injury which we hope is not too serious.

The 2nd XI drew 3 – 3 with Sutton High thanks to a Calum Battershill hatrick. 2 terrific first half strikes put the Ruts in the driving seat, although Sutton hadn’t read the script as they promptly turned the game on it’s head by going 3 – 2 ahead. Fortunately Battershill fired home a late penalty for a share of the spoils.

Unfortunately the 3rd and 4th XI were subjected to a ‘carry-on’ afternoon of football through no fault of their own. Basically, our pitch bookings were messed up (not by us) and after being informed they could move pitches (false alert), they then had to change grounds (which they duly did). However, the whole affair went even further pair shaped as they ended up getting kicked off their pitch, which had also been booked by another club. Disastrous and unfair on all of the lads. Let’s hope everything is straight for next week.

Result Round-Up – 6th August 2016

With plenty of late blowouts and heavy traffic on the A3 we eventually arrived at Chiddingfold FC for our annual fixture. Although the result was a comfortable win for the Ruts, this is always a great place to go, Chidd are a wonderful club, with great facilities and terrific hospitality.

Just a brief summary today, the final result was 5 – 0 to the Ruts, first half goals from Zak Graham, Nick Raggett (Worldy, his words, not mine) and Duncan Fraser gave the ORs a 3 – 0 interval lead in the heat. The Second half saw 2 more goals added, the first by Kieran O’Discroll and the final goal was a terrific long range rasper from Graham Rolfe. The only downside from today was the injury incurred by Ruts long term Talisman Mr Raggett , hopefully a temporary blip and he will be fit again in twilight fashion soon.

Results Round-Up – Saturday 23rd July 2016

The 1st XI secured a convincing 4 – 1 friendly win over Westside today with a decent all round team performance. The Ruts goals came courtesy of yesteryear performances from 2 x club stalwarts with a Nick Raggett hatrick and a solitary strike from Lee ‘Trigger’ Poulter . Well done Men.

2nd XI backed up the 1st’s with a comfortable 4-1 win. Goals from Kyle, Ollie x 2 and Bezza. Great performance.

Results Round-Up – Saturday 9th July 2016

The Res XI drew 1 – 1 in their game against a Tooting Bec Trialists XI, with the OR’s goal being a terrific overhead kick from Tom Stanley, the Bec equalised from the spot.

The second game saw the OR’s 1st XI squad secure a 3 – 0 win courtesy of a decent brace from Paul Mears and a goal from the impressive Spud Hughes who was standing in for injured Coach Marc Skinner.

Pre-Season Friendlies – Saturday 9th July 2016

We have a couple of Club XI Fixtures tomorrow at the Tooting & Mitcham synthetic pitch, so please come down and support the Ruts lads, I am not sure if it is a 3,4,5 or 6G pitch (who cares, it is an Astroturf surface and clearly better than the artificial turf in a Greengrocers window).

12pm – Tooting Bec Trial XI v Old Ruts Res XI
2pm – Tooting Bec XI v Old Ruts XI

Good luck chaps
