Results Round Up – Saturday 29th October 2022.

The 1st XI secured a fully deserved 3 points, with a terrific home win against the previously undefeated table toppers Thames Utd FC. The Ruts were the better team overall in the first period and were punished in injury time, as they slipped a goal behind.

Despite this temporary setback the Ruts continued to put in a fully committed display in the second half and were promptly level on 47 minutes, as Toby Lempriere seized on a mistake by the visiting keeper to level from close range.

With the game perhaps looking like it may be heading for a draw, Skipper Paul Gough had other ideas as he fired a delightful free kick into the top right corner of the Visitors goal.

There were multiple massive performances from the whole team. However, Scott Jones was the OR’s MOTM for a terrific performance, whilst stand in Keeper Kyle Moore also deserves a mention as he ‘took one for the team’ by donning the gloves pulling off some decent saves in the process.

The ‘A’ Team did not have a Fixture this Week.

The ‘B’ Team played well under par as they slumped to a 5 – 2 defeat at AFC North Leatherhead in the League Junior Cup. Alex Blenkinsop and Jake Searles scored the OR’s Goals. MOTM TBC.

The 1st XI lost 5 – 2 at Old Boys Clapham FC. There is no denying this was a disappointing defeat. However, the margin was flattering for the hosts, who were gifted a debatable penalty, and their 4th goal was also awarded despite our stand in keeper Mappy being floored on the edge of the box.

Adam Randall and Paul Whitthread scored for the OR’s. We now need to brush ourselves down and move on to next week in better form.

The ‘A’ Team beat Oxted & District ‘A’ FC 3 – 1 in the Surrey Lower Junior Cup at Poplar Road.

Results Round Up – Saturday 24th September 2022.

The 1st XI finally got off the mark with a 5 Star performance, following their two previous games which could have gone either way. The Ruts should have been ahead in the first half based on the overall balance of chances. However, the lads finally exploded out of the blocks shortly after half time, as they roared into a 5-0 lead.

The OR’s scorers were Billy Liffen (2) Alex Curme, Sam Leatherby & Billy Whitthread. The Ruts afternoon was slightly dampened as Barnes reduced the deficit with a debatable consolation. Sam Leatherby was the Ruts MOTM with a fine performance in this 5 – 1 Victory.

The A & B Teams were both in Junior Shield Cup action.

The ‘A’ Team somehow managed to through away a 2 – 0 lead against Dorking Cobblers FC, to eventually lose 3 – 2. Tony Furneaux & Robert Quiqley. MOTM TBC.
