Results Round Up – Saturday 4th February 2023.

The 1st XI had a frustrating afternoon as they lost 0 – 2 to Old Plymouthians FC at Poplar Road despite having plenty of possession. The Visitors secured a 1 – 0 lead, which they took into the Interval.

The Ruts were on top for much of the second half and were awarded the perfect chance to level when Alfie Dulley was scythed down in the area. Alas, the resulting penalty from Skipper Gough struck the post, and the temporarily lifted Ruts were left to rue a great missed opportunity.

OP’s added a very late second goal, as the Ruts attempted to secure something from the Match. However, it was not to be! Kyle Moore was the OR’s MOTM.

The ‘A’ Team secured a thumping 6 – 1 Win against Southern Athletic FC. Dan Wallis smashed a thumping hattrick securing him the OR’s MOTM award. The Ruts other Scorers were Aaron Sandys, Reuban McCardle and Ross Trimmings.

The 1st XI lost 3 – 2 at Kew Park Rangers in a game that started incredibly well as the OR’s breezed comfortably into an early 2 nil lead courtesy of a deft Toby Lempriere header from a Sam Leatherby Corner on 9 minutes. Ruts MOTM Leatherby then doubled the Ruts lead from the spot in the 12th minute after Lempriere was fouled.

Frustratingly the Ruts were then left to rue giving away 2 very cheap penalties, which allowed the hosts to reach the Interval level.

The second half was balanced and well contested. However, the Ruts conceded in the 65th minute and despite their determined efforts they were unable to secure what would have been a fully deserved point.

The ‘A’ Team Match Away to Real Holmesdale Res FC was postponed this morning.

A largely hungover ‘B’ Team suffered a 4 – 1 defeat against Waddon Wanderers. Alex Blenkinsop notched the Ruts goal, whilst Chris Blenkinsop was our MOTM.

Results Round Up – Saturday 7th January 2023.

The 1st XI went down 4 – 3 to Junction Elite FC, in a match which could have gone either way, or ended as a draw.

The Ruts opened lively and gained a Penalty in the 3rd minute. However, the Home Keeper saved it and the opportunity for an early lead was missed.

10 minutes later the Ruts lost possession in the middle of the pitch and were sucker punched as the buoyed Hosts took the lead.

On 19 minutes the OR’s levelled in a good move as Sam Leatherby won the ball passing to Adam Randall who drove forward before playing a great through ball to Alfie Dulley who levelled well as he slotted past the keeper.

Despite both teams creating an equal amount of further 1st half chances, it was the Hosts who were far more clinical as they hit a trio of goals in a 9-minute spell before the half hour mark!

The Ruts left their second half rally a tad too late to secure something from the match. Randall and Billy Liffen strike’s both hit the crossbar, although it took until the 82nd minute for the Ruts to reduce the arrears when a Dan Creasey cross was firmly struck home by Harry Swain.

Late OR pressure saw a home player handball the ball in to the net to make it 4 – 3. Sam Leatherby was our MOTM.

The A Team secured a 2 – 1 win against Warlingham Res FC at Poplar Road thanks to Goals from Reuben McCardle & Dan Wallis. Liam Washford Bent was the OR’s MOTM.

The B Team had a great Away trip at NPL ‘B’ FC, as they hit 5 goals, courtesy of a Alex Blenkinsop hatrick, plus further strikes from Chris Blenkinsop & Mark Todd. The hatrick man also deservedly secured the Ruts MOTM nod.

Best Wishes to all of the Ruts teams competing tomorrow if their matches survive the heavy rain!
