The 1st XI made hard work securing a 5 -3 win at Wanderers FC after storming into an early 3 goal lead.

Our thanks to Mappy for noting the goal timings below,

1-0 – An Own Goal after Billy Liffen pressured the Home Defenders on 17mins

2-0 – An Ashley Daly free kick was only parried by their Keeper. Elliott Gibbs reacted first to the rebound on 19mins

3-0 – Alex Blenkinsop firmly side footed home a delightful Adam Randall cross following neat play on 24 mins

3-1 – Wanderers reduced the arrears with a powerful header from a Corner on 25mins

3-2 – Wanderers converted a penalty on 42mins.

4-2 – Fabio Bagulho slotted home after an Ashley Daly free kick was fumbled on 49mins

4-3 – Wanderers score their 3rd goal on 82mins

5-3 – Blenkinsop fired home for his brace and MOTM award from a Sam Leatherby assist on 86mins.

The 2nd XI played really well to earn a hard fought a 3 – 1 Surrey Cup Win against Reigate Priory Res FC

The Ruts went ahead courtesy of an OG, before the Visitors levelled. However, two terrific second half goals booked the OR’s slot in the next round.

Firstly, Sam Maclean deftly fired home a delightful strike, and this was followed by a Paul Whitthread goal, as he powerfully headed in a Jake Searles cross. Dave Eyles was the OR’s MOTM.

The 3rd XI apparently went 1 nil up via a goal from debutant Alex Hammond, who was also their MOTM. However, the limited news we have so far is that a massive second half collapse ended in a 7 or 8 – 1 defeat.

The 4th XI drew 3 – 3 with Wanderers Res FC. A brace from Abdel Hafidi and a Hamid Bensalim goal. MOTM tbc.

Our Walking Football Team suffered a 5 – 1 defeat against a very strong Pimlico side, Kevin Wilde scored the Ruts goal and our super agile Keeper John Walker was the OR’s MOTM, after he pulled off a succession of outstanding saves.

Best Wishes to the Ruts Sunday XI and Ruts Youth teams tomorrow.

The 1st XI put in a very decent shift against Farleigh Rovers of the Surrey Premier League in the County Cup yesterday.

Our thanks to Mappy for the goal details below, with some added content from me.

0-1 5mins

1-1 The Ruts levelled courtesy of an Adam Randall Header, from a Billy Liffen Cross on 15mins

1-2 40mins

1-3 45mins

In the second half the Ruts really upped their performances and deservedly levelled via the following,

2-3 – A Fabio Bagulho Penalty, after Alex Blenkinsop was fouled in the Box on 51mins.

3-3 – Blenkinsop then went on a delightful mazy run & finished well from an Alex Curme assist on 65mins.

The OR’s then had several decent ‘one on one’ opportunities to win this cup tie in normal time. However, it was not to be, and a penalty shootout was to prove to be the decisive outcome. Adam Randall and Ashley Daly scored the Ruts first 2 x Pens in the Shootout, before the TEAM were unable to notch thereafter.

Plenty of positives to take for the Ruts performance wise and a massive big shout out to Ruts MOTM Kyle Moore for ‘stepping up and standing in’ in Goal as our regular Keeper Evan Watson had sustained an Training injury earlier in the week.

The 2nd XI had a very competitive friendly against Worcester Park U23’s. The Lads went down 2 – 1, after conceding an early penalty. Liam Washford Bent notched the OR’s Goal.

The 3rd XI lost 3 – 0 to Cheam Village Warriors FC, whilst the 4th XI drew 2 – 2 with Kew Park Rangers Res FC. The Ruts scorers were Bensalim and Hafidi was the Ruts MOTM.

Our Sunday Team sadly had their game abandoned around the hour mark after 2 x serious injuries left no alternative to the Referee. The Ruts were 3 – 0 up at the time, thanks to a brace from debutant Alfie Dulley and a strike from Tom Kearney. The unfortunate Ruts injury was sustained by our Co Manager Sean Thornton.

We wish both Sean and the injured Old Sutts player both full and speedy recoveries.

The 1st XI secured a decent 7 – 1 victory at Claygate Royals FC, in what was a keenly contested match. Our thanks to Jon Mapp for keeping a tab on the goal tally.

1-0 – Billy Liffen struck a low drive from outside of the box, following a Fabio Bagulho back heel on 19 mins.

2-0 – Paul Gough penalty to the bottom left, following a superb surging run saw Will Mortimer fouled on 23 mins

3-0 – Fabio Bagulho strike from the centre of the box from a Liffen assist on 39mins

4-0 – Adam Randall strike also from the centre of the box, from a Liffen assist on 51mins

5-0 – A fine solo Billy Liffen goal after he beat the left back, before sliding the ball past the keeper on 65 mins

6-0 – Randall pounced with a side footed half volley from the centre of the box, with Liffen assisting again on 75 mins.

On 77mins the Hosts reduced the arrears.

7-1 – Adam Randall struck for his deserved hattrick from a Gough assist on 83mins.

Adam Randall and Billy Liffen were jointly awarded the Ruts MOTM award.

The 2nd XI drew 4 – 4 with Surrey Casuals FC at Poplar Road. The Ruts found themselves 4 – 1 down at the break and they had Billy Holder to thank for his long- range strike offering them a half time lifeline.

The second half was a different story as the Ruts really upped their performances. Young Billy Whitthread hit a delightfully struck angled shot from outside of the box to make it 2 – 4. Then, not to be outdone his Dad ‘Whitto Senior’ Paul headed home a Whitto Junior free kick to make it 3 – 4, and then in a very late and tense finale Jake Searles struck a great free kick from around 25 yards to level for the OR’s securing a deserved point in the process.

Manager Jay Ramsey was particularly pleased that 5 of his team were aged 20 and under, which is a great platform to build on.

The 3rd XI suffered a 4 – 0 defeat at Merton Social FC, whilst the 4th XI went down to a 2 – 0 reverse at Sutton High Res FC, with Manager Erol Yilmaz ruing 4 x inexplicable ‘no shows’.

Best wishes to the Ruts teams tomorrow.

The 1st XI turned around a half time deficit to secure a decent 3 – 1 Victory against Woodmansterne Hyde FC at Poplar Road earlier today.

The second half saw a different story, as Billy Liffen equalised emphatically with a scissor kick on 56 minutes, courtesy of an Aaron Burke cross. Liffen then put the Ruts into the lead on 75 mins, when he converted home a cross from Will Mortimer.

Impressive debutant Aaron Burke wrapped the game up, when he neatly fired home the Ruts 3rd goal in injury time, to secure a valuable 3 points for the OR’s.

In summary – this was a decent all round team performance, which saw Billy Liffen get the MOTM award.

The 2nd XI also notched a great win as they beat Junction Elite Res FC by winning 4 – 2.

The Ruts scorers were Bradley Szreider, Liam Washford Bent, Billy Whitthread and a strike by MOTM Steve Berry.

The 3rd XI Were let down by a ‘Keeper No Show’ So up stepped injured Player Manager Christian Cittie to ‘don the gloves’, plus trainers and a hi viz bib against AFC Malden. Cittie reported that despite a good start the lads were pegged back by 2 quickfire oppo goals,

The Ruts then won a penalty, which Aaron Sandys converted to keep us in the game. The second half saw a very solid performance in which Jon Pearson headed the Ruts back into the match and Sam Hickson fired home a 30 yard free kick on his debut.

Despite finally going down 5 – 3, Cittie reported there were a lot of positives to take from this new look 3s team performance.

A much changed 4th XI line up secured a 2 – 1 Win at Warlingham Res FC. Manager Erol Yilmaz reported ‘a superb performance from the old f…….’ Our goals were an OG and an Abdel Hafidi strike. Dan Larkin was our MOTM.

The 1st XI drew 1 – 1 with Ashtead FC. The Ruts went ahead on 43 minutes thanks to a deft header from Captain Elliott Gibbs as he glanced home a Paul Gough free kick. The visitors levelled just two minutes in to the second half and the score remained that way, despite the Ruts having an abundance of chances to win the game. However, inspired goalkeeping and awry finishing prevented the ORs from obtaining more points from the match. Ashley Daly was the Ruts MOTM.

The 2nd XI suffered a 6 -1 defeat against Pavletic Rovers FC. The Ruts went behind early on and then levelled after neat play from Chris Henry set up Alex Blenkinsop who fired home. The visitors then scored shortly before the break and then upped a gear further in the second period notching 4 more times.

The 4th XI secured a fantastic 3 – 2 Victory over AFC North Leatherhead courtesy of a Mark Todd brace and a strike from their MOTM Darren Bloomfield.

Best wishes to Sam Leatherby and Alex Blenkinsop who both sustained injuries in their matches. We hope you are both back soon.

Best wishes to the Ruts teams tomorrow.
