The Walking Football Lads enjoyed a successful Weekend with a 4 – 0 friendly win on Saturday against AFC Walcountians. The Ruts Scorers were Kevin Wilde, Steve Dulley, Michael the Panther and Jeff McManus who also secured the MOTM Award.

On Sunday the Ruts reached new dizzy heights as they Won their second successive Tournament, this time at Sutton United FC.

In the first group game the lads claimed a big scalp as they beat Pimlico 2 – 0 thanks to goals from Gary Forge and Paul Riches.

The second game was an interesting one as we drew 0 – 0 with Fulham with Kevin and Phil playing against us!

The 3rd game saw us secure a 1 – 0 win versus Lambeth thanks to a Steve Dulley goal, before our only defeat in the final group game as we lost 1 – 0 to Thames. This meant we finished second in our Group and had to face the Winners from the other Group.

In the Semi Final against Farnham FC we looked down and out with just 20 seconds to go. However, that man Forge fired home our equaliser to take the match to a shootout. Steve and Gary scored our goals as the Oppo missed one and Johnny Walker saved one.

In the Final against Thames FC we drew 0 – 0 before winning our Second shootout thanks to Steve and Gary scoring for us again, whilst the Cat saved one for us, with the oppo missing their other two.

Our player of the Tournament was that man Johnny Walker. However, with that said, this was a massive Squad performance and a masterclass from Manager Graham Clayton.
